Irene joined O'Donal's Nursery, LLC in April 2007 with a 13-year horticulture background. Originating from Newcastle, Maine, Irene began working in the horticulture industry as a gardener and a greenhouse assistant at a local retail garden-center.
Irene hadn't originally planned to pursue a career in horticulture, considering she majored in Communication Studies: Public Relations and Human Behavior from the University of San Francisco. However, Irene continued returning to Maine, working at the local greenhouse/nursery and later at Acadia National Park as a Park Ranger.
In 2001, Irene permanently returned to Maine. Her desire to work with plants was unavoidable; therefore she promptly resumed working as a greenhouse grower.
While finding her niche in the horticulture industry she returned to school attaining a degree through the acclaimed horticulture program at Southern Maine Community College.
Proficiency through much of the industry has come by working as a garden laborer, greenhouse grower, garden-center and florist retail associate, landscape designer and manager and by attending horticulture workshops, conferences and trade shows.
Irene's passion focuses on landscape designing and encouraging others to enrich their lives with horticulture. Irene looks forward to any task one presents to her. She is confident with her knowledge while eager to learn more as mother-nature and the world of horticulture are always evolving.
Between the love of working with both people and plants, Irene is thrilled to join O'Donal's Nusery where everyone shares the same passion.
"O'Donal's is a place where introducing the wonders of an immense variety of plants and expanding one's knowledge of gardening comes alive." -Irene Barber
